Global X delivers triple digit returns over three and five years
6 August 2026
- Eight Global X ETFs delivered triple digit returns over three and five years
- SEMI is Australia’s top performing ETF over a three-year period
- FANG is the top performing Global X fund over a five-year period
Global X ETFs Australia is pleased to announce that eight ETFs have delivered total returns of more than 100% over three- and five-year periods, with the Global X Semiconductor ETF (SEMI) emerging as Australia's best-performing ETF over the three years to 30 June.
SEMI generated a total return of 344% over the three-year period, equivalent to an annualised return of 64%, reflecting the significant growth of the global semiconductor industry since 2023.
The result places SEMI at the top of the Australian ETF market for three-year performance, while two other Global X funds also ranked among the top 10 performers over three years.
The Global X Ultra Long Nasdaq 100 Complex ETF (LNAS) delivered a total return of 199% over three years, representing an annualised return of 44%, while the Global X Physical Silver ETF (ETPMAG) returned 148%, or 35% annualised.
Meanwhile, five Global X ETFs generated triple-digit returns over a five-year period.
The Global X FANG+ ETF (FANG) returned 150% over five years, followed by the Global X Physical Gold ETF (GOLD) at 143%, ETPMAG at 141%, LNAS at 131%, and the Global X Battery Tech & Lithium ETF (ACDC) at 103%.
Beyond 12-month performance
Global X CEO Alex Zaika said the results highlight the importance of assessing investment performance over longer periods rather than focusing solely on short-term market movements.
"While one-year returns often capture headlines, Australian investors are generally trying to build wealth over many years. Looking at three and five-year performance provides a much clearer picture of how investment themes and portfolio allocations perform through different market cycles,” he said.
Global X has built one of Australia's most innovative ETF ranges, with 16 ETFs now boasting a five-year performance track record.
"Global X is known internationally for bringing some of the most innovative investment opportunities to the market. In Australia, we introduced FANG to the local market in 2020 and launched Australia’s first semiconductor ETF in 2021,” he said.
“More recently, we have seen growing investor demand for growth at a reasonable price (GARP), a strategy that has historically generated solid returns relative to other single factors. We are now starting to see investors become wary of pursuing high growth names regardless of price. Finding value in growth companies is becoming an important factor in portfolios again.”
The Global X S&P Australia GARP ETF (GRPA) and Global X S&P World Ex Australia GARP ETF (GARP) provide domestic and global exposures to companies exhibiting strong earnings growth, healthy profitability and reasonable valuations.
“Rather than chasing the most expensive areas of the market, both strategies seek to balance growth potential with valuation discipline,” Mr Zaika concluded.
